Now, I’ve tasted my fair share of different gins in my time, but nothing else is quite like Butlers Gin if you ask me. I was given a bottle of the Lemongrass and Cardamon gin as a present from my very kind brother-in-law who knows that if in doubt, buy me gin. I’ll be totally honest, I’d never heard of Butler’s Gin before then, and when I saw the bottle (complete with personalised, handwritten label wishing me a happy birthday) I couldn’t wait to open it up. Let me tell you now, I wasn’t disappointed!
The flavours are to die for; very delicate but really distinctive. The lemongrass gives this gin a really summery taste, especially when mixed long with lots of tonic. There’s just the right amount of lemongrass too, you can taste it but it balances perfectly with the hint of warmth from the cardamom.
I tried this with a few slithers of cucumber, which sums up the perfect summery gin and tonic for me, but I really just prefer Butlers Gin with lots of ice and a really good quality tonic like Fever Tree or Fentimans.
For me, Butlers Gin with Lemongrass and Cardamom is a gin to be savoured and not binged on (let’s face it, we all have a gin that we can polish off half a bottle of. Don’t we? Guys….?). I think my bottle of Butlers Gin lasted for a good few months, despite it being a 50cl bottle.
I really enjoyed this gin. I’m just putting it out there for future birthday present ideas for all my friends and family who may be reading this!
When I drank it
Basking in the July sunshine
What I used as a garnish
Nothing, it was perfect on its own with heaps of ice
Is it worth the money?
Yes – but only if you have the money to spend on a bottle that is going to last. This isn’t a gin that you can drink a lot of in one go. You can buy it online here
