On 17th February 2018, I settled down to enjoy my usual early Saturday evening G&T. I’d had about half a glass and had to run to the bathroom – and, well, the less said about that the better…
Something wasn’t right. My body doesn’t reject gin, it tells me that I should drink more. MORE! MORE!
Well, I didn’t have to wait long to find that answer. Early the next morning I discovered that my gin drinking would need to be put on hold for quite some time. It turns out that junior Gin with Ginger is on the way, and should be making an appearance in October.
That was just over three months ago and until the last few weeks, I hadn’t really missed gin or alcohol in general. But then the British spring time decided to make an appearance, and now I long to be able to sit outside in the sun sipping on a G&T with loads of ice and garnished so beautifully.
Now, I don’t drink gin with the sole aim of getting drunk, but let’s face it, it’s a bonus. You spend lots of time and money choosing the perfect gin, and you want to get a little bit tipsy from it. So I’m in two minds whether to try the non alcoholic gin that’s out there. If I’m spending upwards of £30, the same as a bottle of craft gin, I’d want to get that little buzz you bet from your first drink, but I obviously can’t. Can I justify that price tag just to try and kid myself that I’m drinking gin?
So here is my question – have you tried any non alcoholic gins? What we they, and were they worth the money? Leave me a comment and let me know, I’m genuinely interested to know your thoughts.
Here’s to a dry summer. Enjoy the sunshine, and I’ll be back soon, maybe with some reviews of alcohol, free booze x
